WhatsApp for iOS is testing chat filters for all users

WhatsApp, the popular communications platform, is testing chat filters that are available to all users. Chat filtering is currently only available to business accounts. It allows you to quickly find specific chats.

According to WABetaInfoThis feature will be available in an iOS, Android, or desktop update. Advanced search filters that will be available include searching by contacts and non-contacts as well as groups and unread messages. These filters were added last year to WhatsApp Business.

As you can see, the filter button appears for business accounts when you tap the search bar in Desktop. With this feature, WhatsApp makes it easier to search unread chats and contacts as well as non-contacts and groups. The same feature will be available to standard WhatsApp accounts in future updates of the app. However, there’s a difference: the filter button will remain visible even if you aren’t searching for messages or chats.

Chat filtering is currently beta. There is no word yet about when all users will receive the update.
