Twitter says loading issues fixed after user complaints

Twitter said It announced Tuesday that it had resolved issues reported by thousands of users who were experiencing difficulties accessing the micro-blogging platform.

Downdetector.com reports that more than 27,000 users reported an outage. This website tracks outages by collecting status reports from a variety sources, including user-submitted errors.

The outage began at 1.50 p.m. ET, and it had up to 35,000 reports at its peak.

“We fixed that! We made an internal system change that didn’t go according to plan and have now rolled it back. Twitter should now load as expected. We are sorry! said In a tweet

This was the second outage in as many months.

The legal dispute between the social media company and Tesla boss Elon Musk is over Tesla’s takeover offer of US$44 billion.

Twitter users experienced a three-hour outage last month in July. The San Francisco-based company claimed it was experiencing problems with its internal systems, which impacted many worldwide.

Twitter’s early days were notorious for its outages. The popular illustration of a “Fail Whale”, which depicted a beluga whale being lifted up by birds, was a common Twitter image.

Reddit users complained about the outage by tweeting. Many users claimed that all they could see was the Twitter logo as they attempted to log in.

On Reddit, one user commented that Twitter doesn’t have a Twitter account to help him figure out why Twitter isn’t functioning.

Twitter experienced another large outage in February, which it blamed on a software problem.

Other tech companies were also hit in the past 12 months, with an almost six-hour disruption at Meta Platforms that kept WhatsApp, Instagram, Messenger and billions of other users out of reach in October.
