Twitter creators can now get paid in cryptocurrency

Stripe, an internet payment processing company, is teaming up with Twitter to provide a test platform for creators to receive cryptocurrency payments. Only a few creators can get a USD Coin (USDC) if they have enabled monetization. This “stablecoin” cryptocurrency connected to the US dollar.
Initial testing will be done with USDC. However, Stripe plans on launching crypto payouts in more 120 countries this year. These payouts will be made over the Polygon network, which has low fees and high speeds, as well as an Ethereum integration. It can also be used with MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet and many other wallets. Creators have the option to choose whether they wish to store their funds in Polygon or convert it for another currency after earning them funds.
Twitter is where people go to have conversations about what’s happening. We’re focused on helping creators who drive those conversations earn money and connect with their audiences in new ways. We’re excited to begin offering crypto payouts to creators via Stripe so they have more choice in how they get paid.

With Twitter’s recent addition of a Creator Dashboard, there is also now a centralized place for monetization on the platform. While both the Stripe partnership and the Creator Dashboard promise a paycheck to creators, there aren’t many ways for them to make cash on Twitter. There’s currently paid options for Spaces, Super Follows, and newsletters. There could be more income opportunities.
