Poll: Which M2 MacBook are you willing to buy?

Apple has finally revealed the next generation in its Apple Silicon chip family, the M2 chip. This comes after several leaks and rumors. The company also announced two new M2-equipped Macs: the 13-inch MacBook Air (M2 chip) and the MacBook Pro (M2 chip). With this in mind which M2 MacBook would you like to buy?

M2 MacBook Air

The MacBook Air, which received the M2 chip and a completely new design, was undoubtedly the star of this show. The new M1 MacBook Air has a flat design, similar to the MacBook Pro or iMac.

The new MacBook Air is 25% brighter than the MacBook Pro (up to 500 nits), but it does not have ProMotion and Mini-LED technologies. The display goes edge-to-edge and has a notch on top with the built-in 1080p front-facing camera.

Apple has retained the Thunderbolt 3 compatible USB C ports, but with the return MagSafe connector for fast charging. The 2022 MacBook Air is available in four colors: Space Gray, Silver and Starlight.

The new MacBook Air is priced at $1199. It comes with an 8-core GPU and 8GB RAM. There are also 256GB of storage. You can personalize it with a 10-core GPU, up to 24GB RAM and 2TB of storage. It will not be available for purchase until July.

M2 MacBook Pro

The M2 MacBook Pro is a more familiar design, as Apple has essentially kept the same design from the previous generation. It features a 13-inch LCD panel (also up to 500 nits brightness) with regular bezels around it and no notch at the top – which may be a good thing for some customers.

Apple chose to keep the touch bar on the M2 MacBook Pro despite it being removed from the 14-inch and 16inch MacBook Pros. The old 720p webcam was also retained by this model.

Only two Thunderbolt 3 compatible USB C ports are available on the new M2 MacBook Pro. There’s no MagSafe like on the new MacBook Air or even HDMI and SD card reader like on the more expensive MacBook Pro. It is available in Silver and Space Gray. The 13-inch MacBook Pro is different from the MacBook Air. It features an internal fan to provide better sustained performance for resource-demanding apps.

The new MacBook Pro is priced at $1299. It comes with a 10 core GPU, 8GB RAM and 256GB storage. You can personalize it with up 24GB RAM and 2TB storage. This model will be available in stores from June 24.

Which one would be your choice?

Now we want to know if you’re considering buying a new MacBook – and if so, which one?

The M2 MacBook Air looks better in every way, but some users might choose to go with the M2 MacBook Pro due its internal fan, slightly larger battery and notch-less screen. Of course, you might be interested in buying an M1 Mac for a lower price.
