Bill Gates doubts Musk’s Twitter buy

Bill Gates warned this week about Elon Musk’s US$44billion acquisition of Twitter. He said that the Tesla CEO “actually could have it worse” despite his strong track record in other ventures.
Gates was unable to define “worse” precisely in his remarks at Wednesday’s Wall Street Journal CEO Summit. However, he did question whether Musk is serious about stopping the rapid spread of misinformation on public health and vaccine doubts on social media.
“How does he feel about something that says vaccines kill people, or you know, that Bill Gates is tracking people — is that one of the things he thinks should be spread?” Gates inquired.
Gates said that if all you need to take Twitter forward is money and great engineers, Gates is probably the best person for the job. saidHe doesn’t believe Musk will replicate Tesla’s “mind-blowing”, SpaceX performance.
Gates stated, “I have doubts that this will happen but we should be open-minded and not underestimate Elon.” said.
After Musk posted a unflattering photo of Gates, and accuses him of selling Tesla stock, the public has focused on Gates’ relationship to Musk.
On Wednesday, Gates saidMusk tweeted that Musk’s tweeting “doesn’t bother” him and declined to reveal whether he has ever placed a bet against Tesla.
Gates said, “It is possible that the stock went lower and someone shorted it made money. saidHe smiled, almost with a slight smile. “Did it fall in the last month?” I don’t know. I don’t think that one being shorter or longer than Tesla is an indication of your seriousness on climate change. I invest billions of dollars in climate innovation. I salute Tesla’s contribution to climate change.
Gates also characterized misinformation on social media as being more than a technology problem, highlighting how people in positions of trust — from religious leaders in Africa to politicians in the United States — play a major role in whether people embrace vaccines or turn instead to “insane” beliefs about alternative, unproven therapies.
“It is very difficult for the vaccine community to have trustworthy leaders who speak out about vaccines. [tech]Platform to work against that, so I think we have a leadership issue and a platform problem,” Gates stated. said.
Although Musk might bring about major changes to Twitter’s product design, Gates is more likely to do so. saidHe believes that policymakers will make their own changes in “the legal framework”, which he will have to follow. There’ll be innovation there, hopefully parallel to his engineering work.
When he was asked to elaborate on his remarks, he said: tweet this weekGates criticized the Supreme Court opinion that overturned Roe V. Wade. He called the draft decision “pretty disappointed from my point-of-view.”
Gates said, “It is strange to imagine the US going backwards. But mostly what we’re doing is getting other countries to catch-up with rich countries that have the right of choosing.” said. “After 50 Years, something feels like it is part the history of the country. It’s strange to say, “No! Let’s reverse that!”
