What it takes for NHL playoff contenders to win Stanley Cup

It is not always a straight line. Sometimes, it’s the direction that a puck travels when it banks off of the post and into — or out.
In regulation, Artemi Panarin hit a late shot that could have given Columbus three more games against Washington. Lars Eller scored and the Capitals won the series. They went on to win the Stanley Cup.
Andre Burakovsky now looks back and recognizes that he and the Capitals had some lucky bounces along the way to their first ever championship in franchise history. He’s now with the Colorado Avalanche and is well aware that winning the playoffs is only one part.
Burakovsky said, “It is so difficult to win Stanley Cup.” said. You’ll need some luck, and your team will need to be very focused and willing to sacrifice and do whatever it takes in order to win.
The NHL has many title-titling contenders who turn out to not be real, and there are plenty of success stories about those teams that do it right and succeed. Burakovsky, the Avalanche and the Carolina Hurricanes, as well as the Presidents’ Trophy-winning Florida Panthers, are some of the teams that will be making the jump. This is a difficult challenge that requires good health and great luck, but also involves learning how to navigate the rollercoaster ride of wins and losses over four rounds.
“Once you have committed to something, whether it’s the defensive or the offensive part of the game, and you do it, it becomes much easier to get past because you know what it is.” saidBarry Trotz, the Captials’ coach to the Cup. It’s almost like climbing Mount Everest. It’s almost like climbing Mount Everest.
The Cup has been won by players and coaches.
When they won back-to-back the previous two years, the Tampa Bay Lightning proved that they had it all. They defeated Florida in the first round in 2021, Carolina in round two, and Trotz’s New York Islanders, in the Eastern Conference final.
Ken Daneyko was the Cup winner with New Jersey three times and pointed to the penalty taken by Sam Bennett last year that cost the Panthers. Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin saidSpecial teams played a crucial role in the victory against Tampa Bay as well as their previous playoff exits from the Boston Bruins.
Lindy Ruff, the current Devils coach is now on board. This is a critical part of winning in playoffs.
“If you have a strong penalty killing and don’t allow the other team to take advantage, it’s another huge area.” saidRuff was the coach for Buffalo to the 1999 final. Power plays can sometimes be a problem. If you are a team looking to win, you have a better chance of winning if you can keep power plays off the board.
Five of the six previous champions finished in the top five in penalty kill or power play in the playoffs. Five of the six were also among the top five for goals against.
Rod Brind’Amour was the Hurricanes’ captain to the Cup in 2006. He coaches them now. saidStrong goaltending is key.
“What is the best way to do it? “You have to be healthy in order to reach the playoffs,” Brind’Amour said. “If your top men are out, it will be difficult.”
Brind’Amour, the Hurricanes and Frederik Andersen are both injured. Tristan Jarry, Pittsburgh’s goalie, is also out. Washington’s Alex Ovechkin (Fla.) and Florida’s Jonathan Huberdeau (Florida) are the other injured players.
Some Cup champions survived injuries like Robert Thomas’ loss to the Blues in 2019 and Lightning winning again after Alex Killorn lost his job during the 2021 final.
After Nicklas Backstrom was injured and Tom Wilson was suspended before Game 6, the Capitals turned to their reserve players to replace him. Jay Beagle assisted Alex Chiasson with his goal in regulation. Ovechkin assisted Evgeny Kuznetsov with overtime to help Washington get past the second round for first time since 1998.
“Everybody thought we were dead, and that’s when it was possible to play one of our best games. There was that resilience that comes with being punched in the nose and having to keep going up,” Trotz Neben brancheilig get Refer dar des darin Dec them out Durch durch Tr Til said. “You will get punched in your nose. “You’ll have to get up quite a few times.”
Mike Sullivan assumed control of the Penguins’ 2015-16 season and instructed players to forget all about the past games and just “just play” when they fired Mike Johnston. They won the Cup several months later. Veteran defenseman Ian Cole attributes that mentality to their success.
“We had so much faith.” saidCole, now with Carolina. “We would lose games, go down in series, and it was something that made it easy to say, “OK, let’s win the next one.” It’s confidence and a game plan that is consistent and consistent. It is having the right mindset and being able win every game.
Daneyko is now an NHL Network analyst saidHe and his team learned that every play counts in 1994. The Devils were down a game in Game 6 against New York Rangers, and lost seven games. They learned their lesson and won the Cup in the next year.
Daneyko said, “We knew exactly what it was going be like: You couldn’t just sit back.” said. “Emotions have to be balanced. You must keep your head up, but also play your part.
This style of play does not need to be the same. The Blues fought their way to a title three-years ago. Now they have the skill and scoring to win.
It doesn’t matter what happens, the most important thing is making it to the playoffs. The Cup champs in recent years include Tampa Bay which has reached the playoffs eight times, St. Louis ten of eleven, Washington nine of 10, and Pittsburgh sixteen.
Blues general manager Doug Armstrong stated, “You just need to get there as many times as possible and breaks will happen.” said. “You need things to go your way. You need health. Take a few breaks. Then, just go for it.
