Sarah Mitton shatters Canadian record in women’s shot put

Sarah Mitton broke Saturday’s Canadian record in women’s shot at the Golden Horseshoe Prep Meet, Hamilton, Ont.
The Brooklyn native, aged 25, threw 19.58m with her sixth and last throw. This beat Brittany Crew’s Canadian record, 19.28, set in 2019.
Mitton’s mark was the second-farthest in the world for this season.
On Saturday, she had already thrown an outdoor personal record of 19.12m. She then threw her national-record throw.
Mitton won gold at the 2019 Summer Universiade. In Tokyo, she made her Olympic debut, finishing 28th.
