Joy Drop: Some home-run moments gave this week a real lift

Hello, friends! It’s May! Our tires are being changed and our gardening gloves are out. OK, fine. None of these things have ever happened to me. But they will.

My family and friends celebrated an amazing Eid holiday on Monday. I’m thrilled to report that this week brought me so much joy from my morning coffee. This was something I missed when fasting. This online notebook isn’t sponsored by Nespresso, but it should be. I like my coffee strong and black, with plenty of it.

Talking of coffee, I have been listening “A Coffee Podcast About Coffee” on my iPod.Adventures in Coffee“. Sponsored by Caffeine MagazineI’m addicted. Scott, Jools, James are all coffee drinkers and experts. The podcast is based in London but the hosts tell stories and talk about coffee from all around the world. It is incredible storytelling and with the centre topic being my favourite thing in the world — other than cats. They bring in experts from all walks to study and share their perspectives.

I learned about colonization and coffee distribution history, fair pay for coffee farmers, how you can reduce your carbon footprint while enjoying coffee, how to select a roast, and why it matters. Adventures in CoffeeThis podcast is very engaging, and one I really enjoy. I am looking forward to season three of their podcast and will continue listening.

Although this newsletter is about joy I thought it would be remiss to not include a very joy-inducing clip from the land of Baseball.

Derek Rodriguez, a nine year old New York Yankees fan, is Derek Rodriguez. On Tuesday night, he was at the Rogers Centre, Toronto, with his father, Cesar, in order to see the Yankees take on the Blue Jays. He was thrilled to see Aaron Judge play, his favorite player. Rodriguez was seated next to Michael Lanzilotta who, as a Jays fan, took the ball from Judge’s home run and handed it off to him. Rodriguez burst into tears of gratitude and hugged Lanzilotta.

The story is truly beautiful, as they are all different generations supporting different teams. However, they are connected by a unique moment in the sport that was lifted because of generosity and gratitude.

Rodriguez’s thoughtful and kind gesture was not only incredibly kind, but it was also a wonderful example of kindness. It reminds us to embrace the simple moments. In our busy lives, it is easy to forget to smell the flowers. How many people stop to smell the flowers, then give a bouquet to someone else? Competitive sports teach us to be confident and to win. However, they also teach us to respect others and to share their struggles and successes. Moments of happiness.

Rodriguez was invited to the game and practiced beforehand after the viral moment. Judge gifted him a pair batting gloves after he met his favorite player. Joy Drop-worthy was the moment I saw it go viral on Tuesday night. I was right.

This week I had lunch with a friend. WinstonWe decided to go to a vegan restaurant called Fresh. I love meat, but I have a hard time letting go of it. readA few Vegan athletes(Lewis Hamilton. Alex Morgan. Venus Williams) I was keen to try it. Winston is an expert on many subjects and correctly advised that I try the quinoa battered onion rings. Everything was delicious. The entire menu is 100 per cent vegan. The days of bland, repetitive menu items made from plant-based ingredients are gone. It was amazing and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a wonderful place to spend Mother’s Day weekend.

Mother’s Day is an opportunity to give and receive love, if you so choose. I wish this weekend to be a time of joy and fullness for parents. I have given my children chores and gifts to do and I hope they are inspired. I will remind them that my four unmedicated children gave me at least four presents. Being a mother is my favorite thing and I am so grateful for the time I get to spend with my children. My mom.

It isn’t always easy for everyone. To all those who may be in distress, we send our love and support.
