CEBL’s Guelph Nighthawks sign former Raptor Lucas ‘Bebe’ Nogueira
Former Toronto Raptor Lucas Nogueira has been signed by the Guelph Nighthawks.
The seven-foot centre from Brazil, also known by Bebe, will be joining the Canadian Elite Basketball League team as an international designated player. Nogueira, a first-round NBA draft selection, was taken by the Boston Celtics as the 16th pick. After being acquired by the Raptors in a 2014 trade, Nogueira spent four more years in Toronto.
“We are excited to have Lucas join us,” saidCharles Kissi, Guelph’s head coach and general manger. “I believe he will bring both personal and professional experience. It’s a great chance for him to be a veteran manager. He is at a very thoughtful point in his life, and I believe that this will work well with our group.”
Nogueira appeared in 141 NBA regular-season matches and made 10 starts for the Raptors. He scored 17 points and had nine rebounds and five blocked shots in Toronto’s 99–85 win at Portland on October 30, 2017.
