Bruce Buck steps down as Chelsea chairman after takeover

LONDON –

Bruce Buck, who was the chairman of Chelsea since 2003, is retiring from that position due to the change in ownership at the Premier League club.

Chelsea saidMonday, Buck said that he would “continue to support the club in his role as senior advisor.”

Chelsea was sold last month to a consortium headed by Todd Boehly (Los Angeles Dodgers part owner) for 2.5 billion pounds ($3.2 billion).

It marked the end for the 19-year trophy-filled reign of Roman Abramovich. The Russian oligarch was sanctioned in March by the British government for “enabling Russian President Vladimir Putin’s brutal and barbaric invasion” of Ukraine.

Boehly: “Bruce has led Chelsea Football Club at the highest levels of domestic and international football while also developing one the most active social responsibility sports projects in sport.” said. “We thank Bruce for his dedication to the club and his service.”
