Bayern celebrates Bundesliga title but left wishing for more

BERLIN –

Bayern Munich’s celebrations for winning the league title were marred by an underachievement feeling. It was the only trophy for this season.

There is a lot of speculation about Robert Lewandowski’s future, which has also contributed to the unease at the club. Bayern fans called for Lewandowski to remain during the festivities at Marienplatz in Munich.

After a record-breaking 10 consecutive Bundesliga titles, the novelty of winning Germany’s title is fading. Bayern’s lofty standards have led to players and club officials focusing more attention on the trophies that were not won.

“We played an average season, but not a very great season,” Uli Höene, honorary Bayern president. said. “For a very successful season, we would have advanced further in the Champions League or German Cup. However, we achieved the minimum goal for the season.

The minimum goal was too low, with many of those involved with the club wishing for more.

Lewandowski is pushing for a move from Germany to Barcelona. He has been the Bundesliga’s top scorer for five consecutive seasons. Bayern CEO Oliver Kahn said that Lewandowski will fulfill his contract.

Kahn said, “We just have the to wait and see how it all turns out.” said. “We have a deal with Robert through 2023, that’s how many years he’ll be here.”

Bayern would have to reconsider if any club made a substantial offer for the 33 year-old player.

Hoene said, “From what he says and also my opinion, he doesn’t get away.” said. “The circus will end on September 2, so we can accept that. Robert is a professional I have known since childhood. He knew from Dortmund a year before that he would play for Bayern. He played an exceptional season in Dortmund. Robert will be a great player for us next season.

Joshua Kimmich, Bayern midfielder, isn’t so sure.

Kimmich said, “He’ll take a lot to replace.” said. “On the other side, if a player wants to leave the club then the club must prepare for it and look around.”

Sadio mane, Liverpool striker, and Sasakalajdzic, Stuttgart forward were considered as potential replacements.

Kimmich saidHe had mixed feelings as his teammates celebrated on a town hall balcony. He saidBayern won the league against Borussia Dortmund on April 23. It would have been more fun to celebrate right away, and he also regrets that there was only one title.

Bayern was stunned by the late goal of Spanish team Villarreal, in the quarterfinals in Champions League. However, it was eliminated in Round 2 of the German Cup after a 5-0 defeat at Borussia Monchengladbach.

“We must learn to understand that 100% is not enough. “We felt the same at times in Bundesliga.” saidKimmich, referring specifically to losses at Bochum und Mainz. “It’s not enough if it’s not possible to go beyond our limits every single day.

Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann however was clearly happy to be there with the fans on the balcony for the first-time.

“As an infant, I stood at the foot of this hill and wished to one day be able to rise up from it. It’s a dream come true.” saidNagelsmann, who stated to supporters that he desired more. “Next year, I want more titles to celebrate with you.”
