Evan Hillock completed two touchdown passes to Griffin Campbell, as the Western Mustangs defeated the Saskatchewan Huskies 27-21 in order to win the Vanier Cup for the eighth time.

Since 2013, the game has been played between Hamilton, Ont. and Quebec City. It wasn’t until 2004 — the 40th Vanier Cup — that the game was held outside of Toronto.

Western holds the record for most Vanier Cup appearances (15), but Laval Rouge et Or is the holder of the most championships (10). The Quebec City school won two of the finals in 2016, and then appeared in three more consecutively in 2018.

The pandemic caused the cancellation of the 2020 Vanier Cup.

Live coverage of the Mitchell Bowl as well as the Uteck Bowl will be available on CBCSports.ca and the CBC Sports app. The Vanier Cup will be broadcast live on CBC Sports.
