Total air travel complaints up last year on increased backlog: CTA

OTTAWA –
According to the Canadian Transportation Agency, the total number of complaints about air travel was 1.2 million. travelThe stock rose last year, thanks to a backlog from the previous years.
According to the agency there were 28673 complaints total in the year ended March 31, 2022. That’s an increase of 26,742 over a previous year.
The total for the year includes 12,158 new complaints. This is an eight percent decrease from the previous years.
The agency claims that it received 15,264 complaints in 2015, an increase of 10,227 from the previous year. Nearly half of the resolutions were processed through the airline financial help package.
According to the CTA’s latest figures, the agency had 13,409 unresolved complaints at the close of the year. This was a drop in comparison to the year before and is in line with the total for 2020.
Complaints have increased since 2019, partly due to the new passenger rights charter, problems with Air Canada’s reservation system, and early issues related to pandemic cancellations.
