SpaceX reported to fire employees critical of CEO Elon Musk

HAWTHORNE, Calif. –
SpaceX, the rocket ship business run by Tesla CEO Elon Musso, has fired several employees, according to media reports.
Friday’s reports cited an email sent by Gwynne Shotwell to SpaceX’s president stating that the company had fired employees who circulated the letter. Musk’s actions were denounced by the writers of the letter. said”Frequent source of distraction for us, especially in the recent weeks.”
The New York Times reported the purge first, based on information provided by three employees who were aware of the situation. The names of the employees were not released.
Although it is not clear how many SpaceX workers were fired, Shotwell stated that they believed they had crossed a line.
According to Shotwell, Shotwell wrote in an email that “the letter, solicitations, and general procedure made employees feel uncomfortable and intimidated and bullied, as the letter pressured them into signing onto something which did not reflect their views.” “We have too much important work to complete and no need to engage in this type of overreaching activism.”
Thursday saw the firings — on the same day that Musk addressed Twitter employees about his US$44Billion deal to add the social media service to his business empire. The purchase is currently in limbo as Musk attempts to determine if Twitter has been hiding the amount of fake accounts on its platform.
As the Twitter drama unfolded another report claimed that Musk had paid $250,000 in compensation to a flight attendant in an attempt to stop a potential sexual harassment lawsuit against his. Musk denied the allegations of sexual harassment and Shotwell, who sent an email to SpaceX employees last month, stating that she believed the allegations were false.
Musk has also mocked Bill Gates’ looks via Twitter over the past weeks. He posted a poop emoticon in an online discussion with Parag Agrawal (Twitter CEO).
Musk was criticised by SpaceX employees in an open letter. They claimed that some tweets he sent to his 98,000,000 followers cast him in a negative light.
“As our CEO and most prominent spokesperson Elon is seen as SpaceX’s face — every tweet Elon posts is a de facto public declaration by the company,” reads the open letter said. “It is crucial to communicate to our teams and our potential talent pool that his messaging doesn’t reflect our work, mission, or values.”
