Heinz, Wonder partner to end hot dog bun, wiener mismatch

Heinz and Wonder have announced that they are joining forces to correct the long-standing numerical mismatch between hot dogs buns and wieners.
This deal was made as part the “Heinz Hot Dog Pact” and will see Wonder sell 10 packs of buns at selected grocers in Ontario. It will match up with the 10 packs normally sold in shops.
The buns will go on sale starting June 23. This follows a year-long online petition which has gathered more than 34,000 signatures as at Saturday.
“Heinz has brought hotdogs and buns together more than a hundred years,” Nina Patel from Kraft Heinz Company’s North American brand communications. saidIn a statement last Wednesday.
“So, we felt it was our responsibility as the most iconic ketchup in the world to rally our passionate supporters and advocate change for the age-old problem of unequal buns or wieners packs.”
No Frills, Real Canadian Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart are some of the Ontario stores where the 10-pack buns can be purchased.
Kelly Backer, head brand and category development at Wonderbrands saidThe “sheer volume” of public responses was too overwhelming to ignore.
Backer stated, “With many of the fans speaking out about this issue we saw it as an opportunity for Wonder and our friends at Heinz to finally give hot dog lovers what they’ve long longed for.” said.
