Cineplex introduces $1.50 booking fee for online ticket purchases

Toronto –

Cineplex cinemagoers may have to pay a little more to see a movie this summer.

Canada’s largest film exhibition has announced a new $1.50 booking charge that will apply to every ticket purchased via its mobile app or website.

The company said it needed to “further develop and invest in our digital infrastructure.”

However, not all will need to pay the new service fee.

Cineplex Inc. states that purchases made in-person at the ticket kiosks, box offices, and concession stands will not be subjected to the fee. Members of the Scene Plus rewards program, however, will pay a reduced $1 per item.

CineClub subscribers will see their monthly subscription fee waived.
